I'd be remiss to admit that all the talk recent talk of changing laws in Colorado and Washington haven't carried over to the cardboard side of things. Different hobbies for different folks. But in the world of baseball cards, a green leaf has an entirely different connotation. For much of the 80's Donruss' green headed stepchild was it's sister set to the north, Leaf.
Before Leaf became its own brand, they were just Donruss cards with a giant leaf on them.
Not the most original, and certainly not the most eye appealing. But as I've been putting Leaf and O-Pee-Chee team sets (with help from justcommons), I've gained a greater appreciation for these cards. Well, not aesthetically. But they are darn hard to find these days, and offer a tinge of variety in a decade where cardboard options were still pretty limited.
After all, who doesn't appreciate a giant leaf on their cards? The yellow on yellow Pirate unis? That's a different story.
