Bring on the baseball

As Topps shifts more of their focus to higher end sets, it's become hard for me to get too excited about the coming card season.  Tack on the continuing whiteout of indistinguishable Flagship sets and it shouldn't be hard for me to continue my streak of staying clear of wax.

Except...once upon a time Topps did things right.  A long, long time ago.  Say, 1965.  For the most part the 60's Topps designs are some of my least favorite.  In a time of social and cultural change, Topps came out looking pretty square.

But I love the '65 design, complete with pennants waiving in the wind.  Add in a Pirates team worth collecting and some memorable season highlights for the Bucs and the release should be a good one.  And I for one couldn't be happier to have something to look forward to from Topps in 2014.

  1. 1965 Topps is my favorite set of all-time, so I'm definitely looking forward to this year's Heritage.
